Wizkid reveals why he signed with RCA in 2017 and ignore other labels

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid has revealed why he signed with RCA Records in 2017, opting out of deals with other international labels that pursued him.

In a throwback interview shared on Instagram by UK-based music promoter Adesope, Wizkid explained his decision to sign with RCA.

He mentioned that before finalizing the deal, he was pursued for four years by various international labels. Ultimately, he chose RCA because they understood his vision.

“The international labels chased me for four years to get me signed,” said Wizkid, “until I agreed to RCA because they understood my vision.”

Wizkid, who recently made headlines with a series of rants and an online clash with fellow artist Davido, is renowned for his strategic use of social media to generate buzz and excitement among his followers.

In the lead-up to his highly anticipated sixth studio album, “Morayo,” Wizkid has been steadily building excitement. The Instagram post on Thursday, May 16, 2024, has further heightened fans’ anticipation as the album’s release date approaches.
