    The Nollywood community and fans were shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of the beloved actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

    Rudeboy, a veteran singer, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss, having been present during Mr Ibu’s illness and spending weeks by his side in the hospital. He took to social media to share his profound sadness at the actor’s departure, questioning why despite his efforts, Mr Ibu still passed away.

    Rudeboy’s heartfelt tribute reflects the impact Mr Ibu had on those around him and underscores the profound loss felt by the entertainment industry. In his poignant message, Rudeboy lamented the unpredictability and fragility of life, expressing disbelief and sorrow over Mr Ibu’s passing.

    In a poignant message, Rudeboy lamented the unpredictability and fragility of life, stating, “I slept in the hospital with you for several weeks just to be there with you and all .. and you still left. God why?? #mribu. Aswear forget !!! Nothing dey for this life.”

    In addition, Peter Okoye of the well-known band P-Square sent his condolences, writing: “Rest well Mr. Ibu. We will definitely miss you! #RIP.”

    He was a beloved figure in the Nollywood film industry, known for his comedic timing, infectious laugh, and ability to connect with audiences of all ages. His passing leaves a significant void in the Nigerian entertainment landscape. Funeral arrangements for Mr Ibu are yet to be announced.

    Recall that the veteran Nollywood actor who was said to have passed away earlier yesterday suffered from cardiac arrest.

    This was made known by the Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) via an Instagram post, confirming Ibu’s demise.

    Rollas quoted Don Nwuzor, the actor’s longtime manager, as confirming that he died of cardiac arrest.

    “Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor,” the post reads in part.

    “I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didnt make it. May his soul rest in peace.”

    The seasoned actor, who is 62 years old, is survived by his wife and kids.
