Ayra Starr, the rising star in Afrobeat, opens up about resisting the temptation to buy a pricey bag due to her mother’s disapproval in a recent interview that’s making waves. Despite her financial capability, Ayra explains how her Nigerian mother’s values influenced her decision-making process.

During the interview, the Grammy-nominated artist sheds light on her typical Nigerian mom’s concerns, including late-night show worries and constant check-ins. Ayra also reflects on her journey to a Grammy nomination and announces her upcoming album release, slated for this year.

Furthermore, she described her mom as a quintessential Nigerian mother who keeps a watchful eye on her, especially during late-night shows, often calling to check in on her and those around her. The Grammy-nominated artist also reflected on her journey, expressing her gratitude for the nomination and confidently announcing her plans to drop an album later this year as a Mavin signee.

It was also seen in other news that Frank Edoho, a Nigerian TV show host, has defended popular singer Ayra Starr after she faced backlash for allegedly “disrespecting” King Sunny Ade, a veteran of Fuji/Highlife.

Ayra, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, was said to have apologised on Saturday for not giving King Ade a courteous greeting at the Afrozon pre-Grammy celebration in Lagos State.

She was seen in a viral video right before she took the stage, paying her respects to a few VIPs and shaking hands with the iconic singer rather than kneeling as many had predicted.
