Naira Marley takes legal action against Iyabo Ojo for defamation.
Nigerian singer and songwriter Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has taken legal action against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, alleging defamation of character.
According to a letter released by Naira Marley’s legal team on December 13, the singer, who is also the owner of the Marlian record label, claims that Iyabo Ojo disseminated false and damaging content about him on her Instagram page.
The legal document states that in a September 2023 post, Iyabo Ojo accused Naira Marley of both spiritual and physical involvement with the late Ilerioluwa Aloba Mohbad. The letter further asserts that Iyabo accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad, whom he referred to as a brother.
In response, Naira Marley’s legal team is seeking N500 million in damages from Iyabo Ojo unless she issues a public apology for the allegations made against the Marlian boss.
The legal team has outlined that the apology must be published on Iyabo Ojo’s official Instagram account and in a national daily.
In the event that Iyabo Ojo fails to comply with the conditions specified in the viral letter, Naira Marley’s legal representatives are prepared to move forward with filing a lawsuit against the Nollywood actress.
This legal development follows Naira Marley and Sam Larry’s recent release from police detention a few weeks ago. The unfolding legal saga adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing controversies surrounding Naira Marley and his interactions with fellow industry members.
As the legal proceedings progress, the public is eagerly awaiting further developments and insights into the intricacies of this dispute.
