Voice2Rep releases new album entitled ‘This Is The Truth’.
Nigerian music initiative Voice2Rep releases new album entitled ‘This Is The Truth,’ – a 10 track album featuring a grand total of 14 artists who collaborated to produce an Afrobeat masterclass.
Voice2Rep recognizes music as a tool for change, having young music artists who were previously money-driven understand the concept of using their voices to advocate for critical issues in their community.’ Over a three day recording period at Voice2Rep’s Accountability Music Hub Studio, the album was completed with the help of music and development experts who offered help on songwriting and storytelling. ‘We want the listeners to be well informed of their digital rights, data breaches and protection while freely expressing their concerns in their communities.’
Voice2Rep is a music initiative and movement that gives young people in Nigeria the confidence to speak up for change. This innovative project, which aims to increase representation, involvement, and accountability, provides a forum for up-and-coming musicians to make socially conscious music and interact with the country’s leaders. Voice2Rep has focused on important topics related to freedom of expression, data privacy, and digital rights in 2023.
Voice2Rep has released three outstanding albums over the years, all packed with socially conscious songs that address a wide range of topics, including elections, good governance, women’s rights, human rights, and corporate ethics. The musicians that come out of this program don’t only make music; they go on to become prominent supporters of causes that have a direct bearing on the lives of young people in Nigeria.
