The first sequence of the brand-new Netflix original series Everything Now uses the song “I’m a Mess” by Omah Lay as the music.

Mia is the main character of the Netflix original adolescent drama series. Sophie Wilde, who plays Mia and most recently starred in the horror movie Talk to Me, adds a range of emotions to her part, including comedy. Mia is coping with the challenging process of overcoming an eating issue on a physical and emotional level.

The program focuses on Mia’s recovery as she copes with her trauma and the reality that, while she was receiving treatment for her problems at a clinic, the world went on without her. Everything was available on October 5, 2023.

Incorporating Omah Lay’s widely acclaimed song “I’m a Mess” into the show’s opening scene serves as a poignant reflection of Mia’s innermost feelings, despite her prolonged hospitalization. Within, Mia grapples with the stark reality that her seclusion from the outside world is concluding, signaling the beginning of her external healing journey.

This path to recovery proves to be far from straightforward, with its own set of challenges, all of which are artfully encapsulated by “I’m a Mess” in the opening scene.

Presently, “Everything Now” has secured the seventh spot among Nigeria’s Top 10 TV shows. “I’m a Mess” is a notable track featured in Omah Lay’s acclaimed album, “Boy Alone,” which made its debut in 2022. This album unveils the anxieties and fears that often lie hidden beneath the surface.

In a genre where few Afrobeat songs delve into the mental health of creative artists, Omah Lay adeptly captures this lyrical depth, making it a standout and thought-provoking addition to his repertoire.

In a recent conversation with Adesope Olajide on the Afrobeat Podcast, Omah Lay opened up about how the rapid ascent to fame initially affected his mental well-being.

However, he has since developed the skills and tools necessary to effectively manage his mental health and is now enthusiastic about sharing his personal journey with his devoted fan base.
