Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the club is still actively searching for a new striker before the transfer window closes. The Blues have faced challenges in the striker position due to injuries and lack of goals from their current options.

Christopher Nkunku, a significant forward addition during the summer transfer window, suffered a knee injury during the summer, leaving Chelsea with limited options up front. Armando Broja, an academy graduate, is still recovering from a torn ACL, and Nicolas Jackson, another summer arrival, has yet to score in the Premier League.

In the 3-1 loss to West Ham United, Chelsea’s difficulties in scoring goals were evident, prompting Pochettino to acknowledge the need for another striker. He mentioned that the club is actively working on finding the right profile but acknowledged that it’s a challenging task.

Pochettino emphasized that it’s not just the strikers who need to be clinical in front of goal but also the entire team. He mentioned that if they can’t find the right striker, they will have to wait for Nkunku and Broja to recover, with the support of Mason Burstow.

There is also mention of the possibility of Romelu Lukaku making a surprise comeback, but Pochettino’s approval would be required for that to happen. Lukaku was left out of preseason due to his pursuit of a move away from the club, but Pochettino is reportedly not interested in reintegrating him at the moment.
