Bayern Munich confirm signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham.
Harry Kane’s eagerly awaited move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich has been finalized for a sum in excess of €100 million (£86.4 million).
The four-year deal between the English captain and the Bundesliga powerhouse puts an end to what was arguably the summer’s greatest transfer story.
Kane was always expected to depart his cherished boyhood club when his contract expired the following year because the fearsome striker was eager for a new challenge and driven by the desire to finally bring home a trophy.
Although he had intended to help Spurs break their own trophy drought, the club’s upheaval since the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019 meant that not even the club’s brand-new, exciting manager Ange Postecoglou was able to convince him to stay.

Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of interest in the 30-year-old, with Manchester United originally outbidding Real Madrid and PSG for his contract.
Despite the possibility of losing his talisman for free in a year, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had little desire to trade Harry, and even less so to a Premier League competitor.
This resulted in United withdrawing, which gave Bayern the opportunity to move in. After multiple bids were turned down, Bayern’s offer was finally accepted on the eve of the new season.
Even then, it seemed as if Kane would U-turn and stay in north London after all, before deciding to make the move, with Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel crucial in persuading the Three Lions superstar to come to Germany.
After a string of loans, Kane made his debut for Tottenham in 2011. Since then, he has cemented his position as one of the best strikers of his generation.
He has earned numerous individual honors, including three Premier League Golden Boots, and he assisted the Lilywhites in getting to two League Cup finals and the 2019 Champions League final.
In 435 appearances, he scored 280 goals, surpassing Jimmy Greaves earlier this year to take over as the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Kane is also England’s all-time highest scorer, a feat he repeated in 2023, and has captained his country since 2018, guiding them to the World Cup semi-finals, where he won the tournament’s Golden Boot and the Euro 2020 final.
