Brighton manager, Roberto De Zerbi breaks silence on Moises Caicedo’s future
During the press conference after Brighton and Hove Albion’s final pre-season game against Rayo Vallecano, manager Roberto De Zerbi provided an update on Moises Caicedo’s future.
The Ecuadorian midfielder was left out of the match-day squad for that game, reportedly to allow him to rest ahead of the opening game against Luton Town for the 2023/24 football season.
When questioned by the press about Caicedo’s return to training, De Zerbi confirmed that the young midfielder is expected to be back in training on Monday, August 7, 2023.
“I don’t know. If Moisés leaves, we will find another important player. If Moisés stays, I’ll be happy for us. It’s not my problem. At Brighton, it is possible to lose some players; we always move forward”.
Chelsea has been actively pursuing the signing of the Ecuadorian international, Moises Caicedo, from Brighton and Hove Albion during the 2023 summer transfer window. However, their attempts to secure his services have faced significant resistance from Brighton.
As of now, Chelsea has made three bids for Caicedo, all of which have been rejected by Brighton. The latest offer from Chelsea amounted to £80 million, but the Seagulls have remained steadfast in their stance that the player will only be allowed to leave if the transfer fee reaches £100 million.
