Lizzo reacts to allegations levied against her by former employees
In light of the multiple allegations made by her former employees who have filed lawsuits, American singer and pop star Lizzo has addressed the situation and responded to the allegations.
Lizzo took to her Instagram and shared a detailed write-up directly addressing the allegations brought forward by her former dancers. In the post, she bravely confronted the claims, providing her perspective on the matter.
The singer began by saying, “These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized.”
Lizzo vehemently refuted the allegations against her, characterizing them as sensationalized, false, and beyond belief. She acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and felt compelled to address the claims publicly. In her response, she specifically mentioned Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, stating that she found their conduct during her tour to be unprofessional.
The former backup dancers had accused the singer of fostering a hostile work environment, citing instances of sexual, racial, and religious harassment. Their 30-page document outlined up to nine specific claims forming the basis of their lawsuit.
Going on in her statement, Lizzo said, “As an artist, I have always been very passionate about what I do. I take my music and my performances seriously because at the end of the day, I only want to put out the best art that represents me and my fans. With passion comes hard work and high standards. Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.”
Lizzo made it abundantly clear that her intention in speaking out was not seeking sympathy or portraying herself as a victim. She addressed the accusations head-on and dispelled the notion that she was the villain, as portrayed in recent media coverage.
Furthermore, she emphatically clarified that weight was not a factor in any decisions regarding her employees, debunking such claims that had circulated.
