Carter Efe, a popular Nigerian skit maker turned singer, has expressed deep sorrow and frustration in a new video after his hit song “Machala” featuring Berri Tiga was omitted from the nominees’ list for the 2023 Headies Awards.

Following the release of the Headies’ 16th edition nominees list on July 12th, 2023, Carter Efe reacted emotionally to the fact that his song did not receive a nomination. During an Instagram live session, he broke down in tears, expressing his disappointment and giving the Headies a 24-hour ultimatum to update their nominees list and include him immediately.

Carter Efe voiced his belief that what the Headies organization did to him was unfair, asserting that no song was bigger than “Machala” in 2022. He emphasized that even young people vibed to his hit song, reinforcing his conviction that he deserved recognition from the Headies.

In the video, Carter Efe’s emotions remained heightened, and he maintained an aggressive stance despite attempts by his friends to console him.
