“Stop using Yoruba, you won’t go far” – Netizens troll Asake over his newly released album, Work of Art.
Asake, a popular Nigerian artist, officially announced the release of his second album, Work of Art, yesterday, May 15th 2023, and was met with different reviews.
Asake, who is a recording artist for the YBNL record label run by Olamide, enthusiastically shared his most recent body of work on social media.
Only Olamide is featured on the fourteen (14) track album titled Work of Art. The 14 recordings also feature three songs he had previously released: Yoga, 2:30, and Amapiano.
This comes after Asake’s “Mr Money With The Vibe” studio album, which was released on September 8, 2022.
However, some of Asake’s fans did not enjoy the new album, and as a result, it has drawn criticism.
Many of his non-Yoruba-speaking followers expressed their extreme unhappiness, stating that Asake went too far by using too much Yoruba in his lyrics and that he won’t get very far if he doesn’t stop.

Asake explored new sounds in his Work Of Art album which is good, but the album was poorly written; Without the background singers most songs would be dull. He should've sang more in Pidgin or Eng, so non-Yoruba listeners can relate. "Lonely At The Top" is dope tho. No offense.

Olamide isn't pushing Asake, he's too relaxed for an upcomer. At the moment he's trendy, but will be another Terri in the making if he doesn't level up fast; Cos honestly speaking Asake won't get all this buzz if he wasn't signed to YBNL & has a lot of pull in the industry.
