Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid has revealed why he doesn’t like promoting his music.
The artist dislikes media runs because he prefers to take the simple road.
The Starboy Entertainment boss and frontline performer, who recently made headlines by unfollowing everyone on Instagram save Naira Marley, believes in the “soft life” mantra and is unwilling to stray from it.
In a viral video, the singer-songwriter was seen discussing his songs with friends and acquaintances in the studio, where he stated that he dislikes doing publicity for his songs, talking to the press, and the like.
He said, ‘You see promo, I hate doing that shit bro. So like I knew exactly what people want’.
Big Wiz claims that because he dislikes stress he prefers to record while seated most of the time. ‘Holla at your Boy,’ ‘Ojuelegba,’ ‘Joro,’ and other popular songs were recorded when the father of four was sitting down, the music mogul revealed.

Meantime, Big Wiz has established a new milestone for all African musicians following his latest nomination for the BET Awards 2023. The afrobeats musician became the African artist with the most BET Award nominations of all time, with nine nods.
The artist received a nomination for his part in Chris Brown’s popular song “Call Me Everyday” in the category of “Best Collaboration” at the 2023 BET Awards, which will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, in the US.
