Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur has spoken out for the first time over former manager Mauricio Pochettino’s hiring at rivals Chelsea.

Beginning with the 2023–24 season, the Argentine will lead the Blues as their next head coach after signing a two-year deal with a third-year option at Stamford Bridge.

During his five-and-a-half-year tenure with London rivals Spurs, Pochettino gained international fame, most notably by guiding them to their first-ever Champions League final in 2019.

Pochettino is reportedly interested in returning to Tottenham, who have been searching for an Antonio Conte replacement since March, according to a 90min article from earlier this year.

Throughout the spring, Spurs supporters shouted Pochettino’s name during home matches, but the team did not publicly contact the 51-year-old about the position.

Speaking to Reuters, Kane wished his former manager all the best at Stamford Bridge.

“Mauricio was an amazing manager for me. Great person, great, great coach. Helped me a lot to get to where I am now. So I’m really appreciative of him,” Kane said.

“Everyone has their career, everyone has their future. So all I can say is I wish him all the best. I hope he does well – just obviously not as well as us!”
