Lionel Messi will leave PSG upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this season.
Lionel Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season as it is now understood that his father, Jorge, informed PSG of the decision a month ago.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there are ‘no doubts’ that Messi will depart the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season.
It is understood that his father told PSG that a decision had been made last month ‘due to the project’. This was the final breaking points, Romano states.

This comes after Messi’s two-week club suspension for travelling to Saudi Arabia without permission.
Messi’s connection with the Ligue 1 team is said to have been strained as a result, but Romano has now revealed that he decided to depart last month.
Messi posed for pictures with his wife Antonella in Saudi Arabia, where he had planned a trip for one of his official duties as a tourism ambassador.
The World Cup champion agreed to a £25 million contract with Saudi Arabia last year to serve as an ambassador for tourism.
While PSG players were scheduled to have a day off on Monday, following their 3-1 loss to Lorient, Christophe Galtier called the squad in for training.
However, Messi was already headed to Saudi Arabia and was unable to turn around to attend training.
What the Argentine’s future holds is still uncertain, although a return to Barcelona has been strongly suggested.
The transfer could become unlikely, though, given the Spaniard’s difficulties adhering to Financial Fair Play regulations.
Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, has also been connected with a bid for the 35-year-old player, who will have plenty of alternatives once his contract with PSG expires this summer.
