Bayern Munich reach agreement to sign Chelsea coach.
According to reports, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have agreed to terms for Anthony Barry to join the first squad.
Barry was first courted by Bayern at the end of March, and negotiations between the two teams have been ongoing for the past few weeks.
The champion German team has reached an agreement that, depending on add-ons, could be worth €1 million. Barry and Thomas Tuchel, whom Barry impressed while they were teammates at Stamford Bridge, will work together once more as a result of the deal.
“He’s a big character, very friendly,” Tuchel previously said of Barry. “He has a great quality analysing games and giving his opinion.
“I feel he’s very comfortable on the pitch when handling exercises and he’s a specialist with set-pieces so he does the video session and the training.”
Barry has already arrived in Germany, and it’s anticipated that he will sit on the bench for Bayern this weekend when they play Mainz in the Bundesliga.
Initially a member of the Chelsea coaching staff during Frank Lampard’s first tenure, he continued with Tuchel after Lampard’s departure in January 2021. Barry has also worked as a coach abroad, having served on the staffs of Belgium, Portugal, and the Republic of Ireland.
