Frank Lampard insists he’s ‘comfortable’ with club owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali coming into the dressing room after ’embarrassing’ comments.
After Chelsea’s loss to Brighton, owner Todd Boehly visited the team’s dressing room, and Frank Lampard was pleased to see him there.
According to a source, Boehly called the players’ season “embarrassing” in the locker room after the team’s weekend loss. Lampard has responded to the claim.
The Chelsea interim manager expressed his delight at the owners’ strong involvement and said he saw no problems with Boehly and Behdad Eghbali offering their opinions.
“I am comfortable with that,” he said. “There was maybe some criticism of our old owner and not coming to the game, which wasn’t always true, but when the owners are around and want to have input. I was always happy as a player when I could speak to the owner.”
Since taking over, Chelsea’s new owners have made significant investments, but they have also watched as their team has a terrible season.
The Blues are currently in 11th place in the table, closer in points to the relegation zone than the top four, and are already looking for their third manager of the season.
In the quarterfinals of the Champions League, Chelsea will play Real Madrid after falling behind 2-0 after the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
