Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, explained why she chose to specialise in producing in the early stages of her career.

She claimed that when she was just starting out, no one wanted to produce songs for her, so she made the decision to learn how to do it.

During an interview on Jazzys World TV, Tems mentioned that she was her own inspiration and that she had persuaded herself she could do it on her own.

Tems claimed that after numerous rejections, she realised that she could also try her hand at production.

The songwriter claimed that having the ability to mould her sound in the manner she desired made it easier for her to develop the sound for which she is currently known.
