Why I Insisted To Be Addressed By My Father’s Surname – Burna’s Boy Mother
-
Burna Boy’s mother discusses her decision to keep her father’s last name even after getting married.
The mother of Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy, Bose Ogulu, said that she insisted on adding her father’s Surname to her last name in order to avoid being confused with another Idonije.
The revelation was made by the talent manager on January 16 at a dinner to celebrate the 60th birthday of media, art, and culture executive Jahman Anikulapo, which was hosted at Freedom Park on Lagos Island.
The host pleaded with Mama Burna’s husband during her introduction to use Bose Benson-Idonije instead of Bose Idonije, stating that Bose did not enjoy it when people called her by that name but insisted on adding her father’s first name to her surname.
Bose later revealed that she insisted on being referred to as Bose Benson-Idonije before being married in order to avoid being confused with another Idonije.
