Patoranking explains why he gave up dancing to pursue music.

Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking has revealed why he quit being a dancer to pursue music.
The Abule hitmaker also explained why he took that particular move in the past. He acknowledged that one of his motivations for pursuing music was to gain women’s attention.
During an interview with a subset of the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC Igbo, the musician was reflecting on his early days as a vocalist.
The reggae musician described his upbringing. He claimed that when he was in school, girls preferred boys who could sing, so he gave up dancing and began singing in an effort to catch their attention.

He said:
“Many of the things I learned about music and entertainment generally, I learned in the ghetto. Before I started singing, I used to dance. One of the main reasons I started singing was that I liked to get the girls back then in school. Then if you couldn’t sing, nothing for you. I just had to get involved in something that had to do with singing. And I loved music.”
Patoranking was also asked to share his thoughts on the relationship between fans and musicians, saying that both are common and essential components of entertainment.
