Yemi Alade has boasted about being a Grammy winner in the wake of news that the singer and her band’s application for a Canadian visa was rejected due to concerns that they might not depart the country.

On Sunday, July 24, the 33-year-old accused the media of using her name as clickbait on Twitter and emphasised that she is also an “International Grammy Winning Musician.”

    She wrote:

“Dear MEDIA, When you are done using my Name as click bait, add somewhere at the end of your Verbatim journalism, ADD THIS ; “International Grammy Winning Musician Yemi Alade released a FIRE TUNE called #BEGGING…*then add your verbatim* thanks.”

The music stars won the Best Global Music Album category beating Afro-beat stars Femi Kuti and Wizkid.

Celebrating her win, Yemi tweeted: “You can’t understand greatness! It is for your admiration, not your approval.”
