Reactions to Cardi B’s collaboration with Lil Durk and Kanye West.
Cardi B has enlisted Kanye West and Lil Durk to appear on her new single, “Hot Shit,” which is off the charts. Produced by Tay Keith, “Hot Shit” will mark the Bronx native’s first solo drop since 2021’s “Up.”
Cardi celebrates the liberty and security that success has given her on the loud, bass-heavy romp.
“Either way you slice it, bottom line, I’m the top bitch/New Chanel, I rock it, twist and it ain’t even out yet,” she raps. “All this jewelry at the grocery store, I’m obnoxious/Bought a home and closin’ on another, I know I’m blessed.”
During the BET Awards on Sunday, Cardi teased a new single was “coming soon” with an advertisement that she also shared on social media.
She also posted the artwork for the tune earlier this week, revealing Kanye West and Lil Durk as collaborators. Her last teaser showed her luxuriating in a champagne brunch in New York on a terrace.
On June 27, Cardi said on an Instagram Live that “Hot Shit” is “amazing for the clubs” but would be different from her other releases.

“It’s something that I feel like y’all haven’t heard from me before,” she said. “I feel like people is expecting a lot of slutiness and blah blah blah. Y’all keep [saying] I keep making TikTok records and this is definitely not that. It’s a fun great record. It’s masculine [and] it’s great for the clubs. It’s great for the bitches.”
She also admitted that the single’s poor rollout nearly drove her to abandon it totally and declared that she would not be making a music video to go along with the song.
“I will not be releasing a music video with this song,” she added. “I just don’t feel like doing too much this time around. I’m just exhausted with everybody [and] I’m so tired of people not doing their fucking job correctly.”
The collaboration has sparked reactions from fans on social media.
