These are some of the reasons why we think Davido is better than Wizkid.

We are aware that some of you won’t enjoy this latest “Davido vs. Wizkid” piece, but we’re still doing our jobs, both are legends no cap and here it’s based on opinion and not fact.

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he has worked extremely hard for all of his accomplishments, and here are the 5 Records Davido holds in the music industry that no one else does.

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is one of Africa’s biggest exports, and some of his records are unrivalled.

Davido is one of Nigeria’s most well-known influencers, with endorsements from major brands like Martel, Infinix, Puma, and Pepsi, to name a few.

The following is a list of the top six notable records set by OBO 001 in the music industry.

    1. First Nigerian Artiste To Be Featured In Official FIFA World Cup Theme Song

Yes, the 29-year-old American-Nigerian artist and father of three made history by being the first-ever West African singer to be featured on the official FIFA World Cup soundtrack.

For the tournament’s final draw, the singer appeared alongside American talent Trinidad Cardona and Qatari wonder Aisha.

Justifying the choice of the artists, FIFA said the idea is to “Connect with audiences worldwide through the shared passions of football and music.”

Though D’banj and 2face have featured on a FIFA song Davido holds the record for a feature in the official FIFA theme song in the Nigerian music industry and Africa.

    2. First African To Perform At Music of Black Origin Awards (MOBO)

As “If” 2017 was the year specially built for Davido alone in the whole world. You would agree he knows the blessing is coming when he sang “Fall” as well the same year

Davido made a record when he announced to headline the 22nd edition of the MOBO award.

He made himself the highlight of the show organized to celebrate and award music of Black origin.

Davido was nominated and went on to edge out Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Maleek Berry, and others to pitch for the “Best African Act” award.

    3. First Nigerian Music Artiste To Get Featured In An American Movie

Davido is the first Nigerian music artiste to be featured in an American movie. Yes, you heard that right!!

The 29-year-old landed his Hollywood debut in the 2021 sequel Coming 2 America.

There is also a forthcoming Hollywood project on the cards.

    4. First African Artist To Receive An Award On The BET Awards Main Stage

Winners of BET‘s Best International Act category have always been presented outside the main stage since the category was introduced in 2011.

Wizkid, who had previously won the award twice, received his off the main stage although he refused to attend.

Later the organizers of the BET Awards announced in 2018 that the category winner will accept the award on the main stage.

And the first winner to receive his on the main stage was Davido.

Davido beat Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (D. R. Congo), and Tiwa Savage (Nigeria) to win the award.

    5. First Nigerian To Hit 1 Million Views In A Record 7 Hours

David Adeleke holds the record of the first Nigerian artist to hit 1 million views in a record  7 hours. He did this with his popular hit song “FEM“ in 2020

“FEM” hit over 1 million views in 7 hours breaking his previous record for “Blow My Mind” with  American singer, Chris Brown which hit a million views in 10 hours.

This makes “Fem” the fastest Nigerian video to hit 1 million views on the popular video streaming platform “Youtube“.

OBO remains the record holder at the time we are compiling this article.
