Wizkid
Wizkid is not only an award-winning vocalist but also an international songwriter that has written for a lot of popular musicians like Beyonce, Drake, and Metro Boomin, among others.
In fact, the superstar received an international award from The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 2017 for his contribution to Drake’s “One Dance”.
He became the first Nigerian artist to bag this award.
Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage had established herself as a competent songwriter in the international market before deciding to become a superstar vocalist.
The Afrobeats Queen has written songs for a number of well-known artists, including Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia Barrino, and others.
Tiwa’s songs have garnered positive reviews, particularly in terms of songwriting. In 2009, she signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Wurld
Sadiq Onifade, known popularly known as WurlD, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who was born in Nigeria but grew up in the US.
In early 2013, WurlD was in the recording studio with popular US singer, Mario, writing songs for the R&B superstar’s upcoming album.
Tekno
Tekno is another popular singer who is also talented in the area of songwriting. The singer has written songs for his Nigerian music colleagues like Davido who he gifted the song “If” which would go on to be a commercial hit.
In 2019, American rapper, Swae Lee released a song “Won’t Be Late” featuring Drake. It was revealed that Tekno produced the song, also a check on the song’s Wikipedia page names Tekno as one of its writers.

Olamide
Fans were startled to hear Akon sing in both Pidgin and Yoruba in the song “Bottom” when he released his highly awaited album Akonda. Olamide, it turns out, was the mastermind behind the music.
The news was verified by the hit-maker when a fan pointed it out on Twitter saying “Olamide wrote “Bottom” for Akon. We don’t deserve this legend.” To which Olamide responded with the praying hands’ emoji in thanks.
