Laycon shares his feelings on being snubbed on the 2022 Headies Nomination list.
Rapper, Olamilekan Agbeleshe popularly known as Laycon has offered his thoughts on the 2022 Headies Award nomination list and not receiving a nomination.
The reality TV star expressed his disappointment at not being nominated, therefore he won’t pretend that he doesn’t want to win an award.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Laycon stated that he does not feel that those who earn awards are better than others, but rather that they should be commended for their efforts.
He wrote;
”I have never been a fan of judging people with the adjective “BEST”, however I see awards as a compliment, something to tell you “Hey! we see everything you’ve done and we think you should get this for your efforts”. This doesn’t mean every other person didn’t put in work !!!
Even TV stations, radio stations, OAPs etc. get “awards” for their efforts, doesn’t take away from the work every media body or personnel put into growing the industry tbh. But when you work hard and you feel like you don’t get recognition for your work, your emotions set in.

But no be everybody go win award, no be everybody dem go nominate. Even the people wey dem nominate go still complain of no be them collect the award because everyone works hard af to get themselves to that point.
I Dey emotional so I no go lie say a part of me no want award, because for someone coming from where I came from, a lot of people think I don’t deserve half of what I have and what I’m getting, so I’ve had to do double of whatever it is you’re supposed to do in this industry.
But forget about Laycon, the artist who went to BBN to promote himself and his music and ended up winning the show for once. Y’all need to look inward, all of us wey Dey do music and wey Dey consume the music con Dey pick the best of the music and musicians, lol ????.
Remember say na passion first of all, before them turn am to work for us, you wey be artist wey con Dey vex say them no give you award, that happiness and joy wey you Dey feel when you Dey create the music and when e Dey touch people lives, no be award be that one?

was just a song, didn’t get any award to my knowledge but increased number of calls to suicide helplines by 27%, visits to suicide help websites increased just because of the song. And there was reduction in suicides overall, That’s an AWARD !!!
I think the best award you can have is what you already have, step on stage and people scream, cry, throw you bra, throw you pant, people stream your music, go to a show and squeeze themselves inside crowd just to see you or touch you, no be award be that!!!

Still on still, I appreciate the awards, the ones I have gotten and the ones I’m yet to have, and when I don’t get them, I feel some type of way because that’s how it is meant to be, you wanna be acknowledged for what you’ve done, but no be everybody go win award !!!

But what matters is You and the gift you have, use it and use it well, change lives and impact your society, that’s the real award. Congratulations to the nominees of the Headies, congratulations to the organizers. I go wear another Big Shoe come this year.
