Fans express disappointment with BNXN and Lojay’s refix of Iyanya’s “Kukere”
-
Netizens criticize BNXN and Lojay’s remix of Iyanya’s “Kukere.”
Netizens unanimously agreed that BNXN (aka Buju) and Lojay’s remix of Iyanya’s popular tune ‘Kukere‘ in the second season of Budweiser Smooth Kings Remix was a disappointment.
The opening episode of the second season featured BNXN and Lojay remixing Iyanya’s ‘Kukere,’ but the result was nothing like the original.
The live performance, as enjoyable as it was, lacked any resemblance to the original feel-good tune.
The tempo was slowed down, and the usage of the phrase ‘Kukere‘ is the only thing that connects the remix to the original.

Speaking on the performance, Iyanya said, “Big shout out to Lojay and Buju BNXN, I’m a big fan of these two guys.
“And I’ll be honest, they made this song theirs and I love it.”

Twitter users, however, disagree with the “Kukere” crooner as it was implied that Buju and Lojay did not understand the assignment.
While the netizen believed that without a doubt, the performance was excellent, However, it defies the show’s aim of recreating classics by legends who paved the path for today’s artists.
Iyanya has also been accused of being dishonest with his comment.

Either I don’t know what remix/refix is or Iyanya has another song called Kukere that I don’t know of.
So if I sing a different song & add the name “folake” into the song, does that make it FINESSE REFIX?

New song with same title with Iyanya watching also, cause there's no in God's planet that they're singing Kukere refix/remix

The only thing recognisable was the singular mention of Kukere at some point during the performance. This is not a refix.
This is a new song borrowing one word from the original lyrics.
Iyanya acted like he liked it though. Not like he had any choice.

In 2013, Iyanya, an Efik Nigerian singer who won the first edition of Project Fame West Africa, released ‘Kukere‘ which means ‘Don’t think or worry‘.
To make it better, the single was followed by a dance move.
Budweiser has commenced the second season of the show where 20 talented artists grace the show and recreate 10 of the biggest from back in the day.
