These are the 5 Nigerian artistes that performed well in features at the moment.
Features happen all the time and there’s a good reason for that, while these are the 5 Nigerian artistes that performed well in features at the moment.
While some artists do collaborations to augment their already okay songs, many of the artists in the industry today simply cannot do it on their own.
Some people have called Wizkid such an artist because of the success of “Essence” saying he couldn’t have done it without Tems. Now that’s just preposterous. Wizkid has done a lot in the industry all by himself.
But there are actually some artists today that the only tracks from them that people know are the ones they featured someone on or the ones they are appearing on as guests.
And some of those artists are who we are highlighting in this article.
Lil Kesh
Lil Kesh was a good guy back in the day and he had hits and good solo hits. But since 2018 or so, Lil Kesh has not been able to produce anything impressive on his own.
The only reason he’s even in music conversation nowadays is that he’s being carried by features. First, it was Fireboy DML (“Love Like This”) and now it’s Zinoleesky (“Don’t Call Me”). Maybe it’ll be Buju next?
Zlatan
You would not know very easily because this guy is all over the place but if you remove the collaborations from this guy’s catalogue, he simply sinks.
From “CashApp” to “Bum Bum” to “Am I A Yahoo Boy,” you think about most of the hits he’s had and you’ll quickly realize he’s nothing without his collaborators.
Davido
Well, he’s not always been like that but since the beginning of 2021, the only thing that has made Davido relevant are features.
Good guys like Adekunle Gold, Zlatan and recently, Skiibii, have featured him and that’s the reason he’s still relevant. Remove the collabos, and you’ll see he doesn’t have a real hit since 2020.
Skiibii
From the beginning of his career up until now, I don’t think Skiibii has had up to two solo hits. Everything of his that hits is a collabo.
He has about four songs with Reeekado Banks alone, his first hit was an Olamide collab, and his latest is courtesy of Davido. Think about it.
Buju
People want Buju to win the Next Rated award, but think about it, how many hits have Buju done alone?
BNXN is perhaps the most featured artist in the past year and he owes his success to songs like “Feeling,” “Bling,” “Confident,” “Cold Outside,” and “Mood.” What do all these songs have in common? Well, he’s not the lead artist on any of them.
