The Emo-Afrobeat artist Chukwuka Ekweani, better known by his stage name Ckay, has explained why he made the decision to depart from one of the Nigerian record labels, Chocolate City.
The singer made it known that he has parted ways with Chocolate City in an interview at Naija FM.
Recall, the afrobeat singer had a successful year in 2021 when his afro-fusion song “Love Nwantiti” became a worldwide smash hit.
Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti” has made the artist become Africa’s best-selling global artist surpassing Wizkid and Burna Boy with a whopping #2.6 Billion from his 2019/20 song.

Speaking in an interview at Naija FM, the singer discussed how the song, which was released in 2019, became a global hit in 2021, thanking God and a Mauritius disc jockey called DJ Yo, whose version of the song drove it to fame.
Speaking further in the interview, the singer, who was signed as an artist and producer by Nigerian record label Chocolate City in 2016, said that his contract with the record label is terminated in 2020 and that he is now with Warner Music South Africa.
He added that his new deal with Warner Music South Africa has inspired him to do his music work better than ever before and that his record label makes musicians aware of their standards in the music industry.
The Africa’s no 1 boyfriend also revealed details about his upcoming album, which he plans to release this year with international collaborations.
