Peru-Fireboy DML
Fireboy DML is one of 2021 biggest winners thanks to his single, “Peru,” which followed up his excellent 2020 album, Apollo.
The Shizzi-produced track, which was Fireboy’s first official single of the year, was yet another earworm from the constantly rising Nigerian artist.
The song became an internet sensation and has received covers from various quarters with the one from Buju being a fan favourite.
As if to add to the delicious goodness, Fireboy would soon be dropping a remix of the song which would feature British Singer, Ed Sheeran.
Ballon D’or- Burna Boy X Wizkid
One time about Wizkid and Burna Boy collaborating on a song, it’s bound to be a hit. The two did so in 2020 with “Ginger” and reinforced the belief in their collaboration with Ballon D’or.
The groovy pop song is a fun ride as it provides the good time one expects to hear when listening to such a song.
Dior-Ruger
Ruger was unveiled earlier in the year by Jonzing record and dropped an EP, “Pandemic” which produced hits like ‘Bounce“, “Abu Dhabi”, “Ruger” and others.
Not satisfied, he dropped a second EP in the second quarter of the year titled ‘The Second Wave” which has been gaining traction on the airwaves. One of the EP’s favourites, “Dior” is now a social media anthem.
The melodious song seduces its listeners and would have one dancing eagerly.

Zazoo Zeh-Portable X Olamide X Poco Lee
Portable is a newcomer in the mainstream but has been doing music for a while. He recently went viral this month after his “Zazoo Zeh” started gaining attention on the streets and social media.
Olamide jumping on the remix of the song boosted the popularity of the song and now it has become of the favourite staples on DJs playlist.
Champion Sound- Davido X Focalistic
Davido has proven that he is truly versatile and would deliver on any genre or beat if need be. With the rise of Amapiano sound in the Nigerian Music Industry, he has been one of the Nigerian Artists who made that possible.
Following his 2020 ‘A Better Time” album, he dropped his first song of the year, “Champion Sound” featuring Focalistic.
The two had previously dominated charts with Focalistic’s “Ke Star” remix and decided to replicate the success on ‘Champion Sound“.
The song provides the right kind of vibe one needs no matter what you are doing.

Pour Me Water- Kizz Daniel
Just like Wande Coal, Kizz Daniel is one of those artists that out of sight is out of mind but anytime they drop a song, it’s sure to juggle memories.
After topping charts with ‘Currently”, “Flex”, “Lie“, he dropped an EP titled “Barnabas“. While all the songs are worth listening to, “Pour Me Water” has a special spice that makes it a fan favourite.
Just like many Nigerian hit songs, it has also spurred a social media challenge on Tik-Tok.
Holy Father- Mayorkun X Victony
Mayorkun finally dropped his sophomore album, “Back In Office” this year but before the release of the project, he dropped three songs, one of which was “Holy Father” featuring fast-rising artist, Victony.
Unlike the first two, “Let Me Know” and “Back In Office“, “Holy Father” was an instant hit partially thanks to the sizzling intro Victony gave on the song.
The duo found harmony, blending their talents and weaving lyrics on the smooth beat.
Come My Way- Wande Coal
Wande Coal is one of the few artists that have established his status in the Industry, while he rarely dishes out too many songs in a year, whenever he does, it is sure to catch attention.
He released the soul-stirring energetic single “Come My Way” which was produced by Bruno and Screwface, and the trio meticulously blends the irresistible energy provided by afrobeat with the pulsating vigour so well associated with South Africa’s amapiano phenomenon — making the track a cross-continental affair made in dreams.
Ozumba Mbadiwe- Reekado Banks
Reekado Banks stormed 2021 with a piece of music that is as socially relevant as it is a banger, after being in the background for a while.
The 27-year-old Afrobeats crooner returned with the Amapiano styled song, ‘Ozumba Mbadiwe,’ commemorating the one-year anniversary of the #EndSARS protests, which saw the Nigerian government approve a wave of attacks on Nigerian citizens for participating in anti-government protests.

Sip (Alcohol)-Joeboy
Joeboy had initially dropped his long-awaited debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic, in February which received some reactions.
He swiftly followed up with the freewheeling tune “Sip (Alcohol),” which became an instant hit.
The immensely addicting rhythm, produced by Tempoe, topped Apple Music streaming charts in 17 countries, as well as Genius’ trending list and Shazam’s Global Top 200.
Although the song experienced drew criticism for its controversial challenge which saw people pour stuff over themselves on Tik-Tok, it didn’t mar the success of the song.
