Daniel Benson, also known as Buju, has addressed the reason behind his departure from Burna Boy’s Spaceship Collective.
Buju was formerly signed to Burna Boy’s Spaceship Collective label for a year, during which time he released some music.
During his brief time at the label, he collaborated with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Zlatan, and a few more musicians.
He’s now on a mission to build a name for himself, aiming for hit songs and tremendous chart success to reach the pinnacle of his profession.

Buju was asked about his decision to leave the label in an interview with Kojo Manuel on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe show.
In his words:
“The love and respect for Burna as a person, as an artiste and as a mentor generally, stays forever because I still have that love for the record, the persona, and everything but sometimes, plans have to change and strategies have to change. It’s only right sometimes for growth”
“It just came to the end of the contract road and everybody was just looking for better. I was just looking for better so it’s not our relationships that went sour or anything, we just did what was accorded on paper”.
