In 2018, A young boy working as a mechanic went viral on social media catching the attention of Nigerian singer, Wizkid who was moved with compassion and promised to send the young boy to school.
In the video which had trended online, Basit was seen spotting a presumed Gucci shirt as he worked on a car. Turning to the camera, he is heard saying in Yoruba: “There’s money. We wear Gucci to do vulcanizing job. If I want six, I can get it. If I want 100, I can get it.”
Reacting to the video, Wizkid had tweeted ;

New photos that emerged online show a grown and happy Basit clad in his school uniform.. an indication that Wizkid silently stayed true to his words.
