Olamide who burst into the music scene with Emi Duro has gone to churn out hits that would forever be remembered.

His songs have birthed quotes that people as philosophical words of wisdom despite the vulgarity contained in them.

Though 2018 saw the rise of the Zanku and Shaku Shaku movement from artists like Zlatan and Naira Marley, it still doesn’t take away the fact that Olamide was the contributing factor to this.

His ability to dominate the street despite whatever song he releases is amazing. With more than seven body of work to his credit, Olamide is and always be “King of Street”.

    First Of All

Produced by Pheelz, “First of All” was off Olamide’s second studio album, “YBNL”. Despite being sung in mostly, Yoruba, the song was a street hit even in non-yoruba states in Nigeria.

The chorus was one of 2012’s best choruses.

    Bobo

“Bobo” was a cultural reset. Released in 2015, the song birthed a popular dance called “Shakiti Bobo”.

The mellow and catchy song was off Olamide’s fifth studio album, “Eyan Mayweather”. It was produced by Young John.

    Wo!!

Wo!! was another song that Olamide used in dominating the street in 2017. The song was off his seventh studio album, “Lagos Nawa”.

The song was produced Young John. The music video was banned by the NBC due to a report from the Federal Ministry of Health which claimed that it promoted hard drugs.

    Motigbana

Olamide’s “Motigbana” was his biggest song in 2018. In a year that the rapper turned singer released loads of records that didn’t do well at all, Motigbana was a member of the very extremely few that did well.

The song also promoted a dance style called Kpakujemu which almost became a viral dance as a result of the song but got knocked back by the stubborn and more adventurous Zanku dance. Motigbana was released in August 2018 and was one of the biggest songs of that year.

    Science Student

Just like Wo!, Science Student was controversial for its lyrics and its message. Olamide was called out by fans who claimed he was promoting drugs, though he debunked the claim saying that the reverse was the case with the song’s message.
