Tiwa Savage has opened up about the challenges she faces as a single mother and how she was bullied when she went to the US for studies.

Tiwa Savage was in an interview with Gal-Dem podcast where she spoke on how motherhood has being for her, rape, and being a black woman.
She shares an extract she’s written about her son, and reflects on the lessons she feels are important to teach him, as well as crucially, what he has taught her.
Tiwa also reflects on her experience of coming to the UK from Nigeria, as well as her activism work supporting survivors of sexual violence back in her home country.
In the podcast, she said that before going to the US, she never saw herself as a black woman but just another human being but that changed after she left Nigeria.
She also recounted how she was bullied for her accents and her dark skin in the US.
