The first song of a year has to be on point, it’s an unwritten rule every artist knows which is why mp3bullet.ng presents the top 5 songs Naija artists used to start the year 2020.

    Rema- Beamer

Rema had a favorable 2019 however he knew he needed to top that in 2020 as it would decide if he becomes a one-hit-wonder or unshakeable brand and he didn’t disappoint with Beamer.

Produced by  Jamaican producer Rvssian, Beamer is a mixture of Afrobeats and Indian vibe. The song isn’t fast-paced but would still make get up and dance.

    Teni – Marry Me

Teni dominated 2019 with songs like “Power Rangers ” and “Billionaire”. However, her entrance in 2020 with ‘Marry Me” was born out from a question a fan asked her about when she was getting married.

“Marry Me” is a song that addresses the common issue almost every relationship faces, the “When we will marry” question. Teni manages to share her thought on the issue through a song.

    Burna Boy – Odogwu

Burna Boy is one to always invite criticisms every time he brags about himself. But no matter how much people criticize him and his pride, he always responds back with a song. Last year, he did that when he dropped the “African Giant” album after his issue with Coachella.

This year he opened the year with bragging about how he was the best after late Fela Kuti and when people criticized him for his statement, he responded with Odogwu.

Odogwu is the Igbo language for “Big Chief” or “Big Man”. It is a honorary title given to men of great pedigree and Burna Boy made sure everyone including haters knew that fact.

    Mayorkun – Geng

Mayorkun is undeniably the king of cruise for 2020. What started as a freestyle became one of his maddest hits for 2020.  Geng has attracted so much covers that even his fellow artists couldn’t resist the attraction.

He matched his stride with dropping a full EP for the song which featured Nigerian, African, and international artists.

    Simi – Duduke

Duduke will forever be one of Simi’s memorable songs for so many reasons most especially for being the song Simi used to announce her pregnancy.

It’s not every time an artist pulls a large stunt just to share good news, Simi smoothly and successfully did it with Duduke and her fans’ only complaint was that it was long.
