“Baby” Crooner, Joeboy sat down with Samantha Walsh of MTV Base to share his experiences on how he got into music.
Joeboy was the first recipient of Mr. Eazi’s $300,000 #Empawa100 fund that invests and empowers the next generation of African music artists, he is signed to Banku Music Label which is owned by Mr. Eazi.
His debut single, “Faaji” which featured Mr. Eazi was released in 2018 but “Baby” was what imprinted him in the heart of Nigerian Music Lovers. From there he went on to release hit tracks like Beginning, All for You, Don’t call me back and Blessings which formed his Debut EP, “Love and Light”.
Joeboy told Samantha that he connected with Mr. Eazi after his cover of Ed Sheeran‘s song, “Shape of you” went viral.

He went on to reveal that after he finished secondary school he trekked from Ilaje to Sabo Yaba just to find a dry cleaning Job. He also said he didn’t know at that time that he could sing.

When asked about his relationship life, Joeboy was evasive about the question, choosing only to say that he prefers to be private about his relationship life and that he has a lot of friends that are ladies.
