Olamide has grown to become a household name in the Nigerian music industry. He is like the undefeated champion of the street.
I can’t really remember anyone challenging his street credibility but BaddoSneh had to tell us that he is the king of Nigerian(not just street…NIGERIAN) rap.
With his newly released single, ‘Woske‘, Badoo reminded of his tenacity and audacity. With striking lines like: Emi o ra ye oshi…Mi o ra ye oshi…Bobo ko fo’shi, the “Jimmy Jump Off” rapper really has not time for rubbish.
Olamide spilling tight rhymes continued by bragging of his no-waste-time attitude as he doesn’t waste time when he sees a ‘fine’ girl.
The Killertunes production is actually a tight one as you can’t help but nod your head to the beat. You might not even know when you start singing Woske…Yewo along with Olamide.
“No competition je komo…I am the number one not the second one”, as contained in the song may probably spring up controversy as Nigeria music lovers can be strong supporters of whoever they find appealing.
Rappers like M.I Abaga have also claimed to be the king of rap (maybe not street rap). Right now, it is surely looking like our artistes are separating street rap from the general rap(just thinking).
Another tight rapper is Reminisce, there is also Phyno. Damn! This is becoming confusing.
But Olamide has said they cannot stand his stamina as “he dey chop people like cannibal”. Our rapper, who was recently featured in Rude Boy’s ‘Double Double‘ along with Phyno, really got no time for haters.
Olamide added that he spit fire when he raps and people ‘dey vex’ because they want to dance. That is true though.
Definitely Olamide has carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian music with both his singing and rapping. Any guy on the street can literally fight you if you make any derogatory statement about the rapper.
But his being the number one rapper is something that will continue to be debated. As for me, the guy is talented.
And whether he is really the best rapper or not, I see ‘Woske‘ making serious waves both in and outside the streets.
