Earlier this month, KYLE hinted that new material was in the works with the release of his track “To The Moon.” Now he’s shared an additional single titled “Playinwitme” featuring Kehlani, which will appear on his forthcoming album.
The song premiered during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, where KYLE also detailed that he has an unreleased collaboration with Khalid called “I Miss Me” and a “Japanese trap” record with 2 Chainz and Sophia Black. He hasn’t yet revealed an official title or release date for his upcoming album, which is set to be his first since he scored a No. 4 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017 with the Lil Yachty-assisted “iSpy.”
“Playinwitme” embraces the rapper’s signature positive style with an upbeat piano melody, while KYLE vents about relationship frustrations in the chorus:
Girl, why are you playin’ with me? (With me, with me)
I don’t got the time for that
Might need me a refund, yeah
I’ma need that time back
Kehlani also chimes in with similar sentiments and incorporates lines from two pop hits. As Genius contributors Wes Brown and SupadupaJay point out, the singer references the Spice Girls‘ 1996 song “Wannabe” and Johnny Cash’s famous single “I Walk The Line” on the second verse:

It’s confusin’ ‘cause you’re flirty

KYLE and Kehlani previously teamed up in 2015 for “Just A Picture.” In his interview with Lowe, KYLE explained how he first met Kehlani at a friend’s party, and noted that the two have connected musically ever since.
