Tems reveals she signed agreement before collaborating with Beyoncé
Nigerian superstar Tems has revealed details about her collaboration with global icon Beyoncé, sharing that she signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before working on Beyoncé’s 2022 album, *Renaissance*.
In an interview with New York Times’ Culture Reporter Reggie Ugwu, Tems recounted her initial disbelief upon receiving the invitation from her team. “My team just messaged me like, ‘Yo, first of all, I have to send you something to sign.’ I was losing my mind. Like, What?!” she shared, reflecting her excitement.
Tems explained that she agreed to the NDA and subsequently joined Beyoncé in Los Angeles. Their collaboration resulted in the single “Move,” featured on Beyoncé’s Grammy-nominated album *Renaissance*.
Beyond her work with Beyoncé, Tems has collaborated with other international stars such as Drake, Rihanna, and Future. She was featured on Future’s Grammy-winning song “Wait For U,” alongside Drake.
Tems’ influence in the music industry continues to grow, solidifying her status as a formidable presence on the global stage.
In addition, Tems revealed that a “serious illness” forced her to delay the release of her debut album.
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Tems, who gained international fame in 2020 after featuring on Wizkid’s hit ‘Essence,’ disclosed that her debut album was initially scheduled for release in 2021. However, due to an unspecified illness that necessitated surgery and six months of recovery, the album had to be postponed.
