Renowned Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has voiced his aspirations to redefine the perception and trajectory of Afrobeat music.

In a recently surfaced sit-down interview with American record producer and rapper Swiss Beatz, Rema shared his determination to revolutionize the genre, highlighting the significant strides he’s already taken towards this objective.

The viral video captured Rema discussing his influence on Afrobeat and its global reception, asserting that his unique perspective has inspired many within the music industry.

Acknowledged as the Prince of Afrobeat, Rema recognized that while numerous artists have adopted aspects of his style, they haven’t always attributed him properly. Despite this, he expressed appreciation for being a trendsetter and emphasized how his innovative ideas are reshaping the landscape.

Swizz Beatz, husband of Alicia Keys, nodded in agreement during the interview, acknowledging Rema’s impactful presence within international music circles.

During the engaging conversation, Rema discussed his artistic growth over the past four years since entering the music industry. Swizz Beatz inquired about the quality of Rema’s music and his thoughts on his achievements, both currently and in the future.

Rema responded thoughtfully, sharing that when he first started, he envisioned himself as the future of the Afrobeats genre. However, his perspective has evolved. Now, he embraces the title “Prince of Afrobeats,” a moniker given to him by his fans and industry leaders. Rema expressed his pride in carrying this title, highlighting the significant recognition he has received.
