The beloved artist shared how his mother orchestrated his marriage at his father’s birthday celebration, skillfully sidestepping potential controversies often associated with celebrity unions.
D’banj reminisced about the event, revealing that during his father’s birthday festivities, his mother urged him to introduce his girlfriend to the family, subtly probing their thoughts on marriage. Despite his reservations and desire for a grand wedding in the future, D’banj expressed his unpreparedness for marriage at the time.
However, to his astonishment, his mother had secretly arranged a wedding ceremony for him during the birthday celebration. In a touching gesture, she surprised him and his wife with a ‘Happy Wedding’ cake, turning the birthday party into an impromptu matrimonial affair.
Expressing deep gratitude, D’banj credited his mother’s initiative, especially acknowledging the challenges often encountered in celebrity marriages.
He shared the thoughtful planning behind the event, stating, “My mother planned everything. She assured me not to worry, outlining her vision for my father’s birthday celebration. She instructed me to bring my girlfriend so the family could meet her and subtly prodded about marriage. Although I expressed my desire for a grand wedding, she reassured me that it would happen. As we concluded my father’s birthday celebration, they unveiled the ‘Happy Wedding’ cake, leaving both me and my brother, D’Prince, pleasantly surprised. I am forever grateful for her foresight and the wonderful memories created.”
