Simi shares the inspiration behind naming her song with Tiwa Savage, ‘Men Are Crazy’.
Nigerian popular artist Simi shed light on why she chose to title her collaboration with Tiwa Savage “Men Are Crazy.”
During an interview on Way Up With Angela Yee, Simi addressed the controversy surrounding the title of the collaboration.
She revealed that she had initially opted not to explain the reason behind the title, ‘Men Are Crazy,’ following the negative reactions it garnered from some male observers online.
Simi explained that she preferred to let the song speak for itself upon its release, believing that it would provide a clearer understanding of the title’s significance.
“I honestly wasn’t going to go on an explaining spree at the time. I was like when the song comes out they will see what I’m trying to say,” Simi shared.
Simi further acknowledged that the online reaction to the title contributed to the track’s rollout by heightening anticipation among listeners.
She revealed that Tiwa Savage played a pivotal role in softening the message conveyed by the title through her lyrics, particularly with the line “Men are crazy but I still want one in my bed.” Simi admitted that initially, she had intended to keep the message more straightforward with just “men are crazy.”
The collaboration between Tiwa Savage and Simi marks a significant moment for female collaborations in Afrobeats, as it brings together two powerhouse artists for the first time.
‘Men Are Crazy‘ follows the release of ‘All I Want’ in February 2024, and both tracks serve as a prelude to Simi’s upcoming album expected later in the year.
In addition to discussing the collaboration with Tiwa Savage, Simi also addressed the recent situation involving her husband, Adekunle Gold, defending her on social media amidst a dispute with producer Samklef.
