Legends of Afrobeats: Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy Urged to Work Together by Ruger
Afrobeats sensation Ruger recently weighed in on the ongoing rivalry among industry giants Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, advocating for collaboration instead of competition.
During a conversation on British-Nigerian media personality Madame Joyce’s podcast ‘Cocktails & Takeaways’, Ruger, the ‘Bounce’ hitmaker and record label founder, emphasized the potential of the trio joining forces for a groundbreaking song and world tour.
Expressing optimism for the impact such a collaboration would have on both the artists and the Afrobeats genre, Ruger proposed, “I feel like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy should do one song and a tour together. They don’t have to do a project. One song and a world tour together. It’s going to be the greatest thing ever. Me and BNXN would be co-writers of the song.”
Additionally, Ruger discussed his recent collaboration with BNXN (formerly Buju), highlighting a shift from conflict to cooperation in their musical endeavors.
He also made the surprising revelation that he had never experienced heartbreak.
Ruger candidly shared that despite his desire to understand the emotions associated with heartbreak, he has yet to encounter them in his life.
He said, “I have never been heartbroken. But I’m waiting [for it]. I know that it is going to happen at some point. Where are the wicked women? Come and show me pepper. Come out and show me what you can do.
