How I left a show crying after audience didn’t recognise me – Fireboy
Nigerian singer-songwriter Adedamola Adefolahan, better known as Fireboy DML, recently shared a poignant memory from his early days in the music industry. He recounted leaving an event where he was scheduled to perform in tears as the audition failed to acknowledge or give him any attention.
The incident occurred during his days as a struggling artist, highlighting the challenges faced by up-and-coming musicians. Fireboy DML reflected on this experience during an interview with Billboard News, underscoring the obstacles encountered on the path to success.
He said, “Every upcoming artiste always go through a lot of stuff.
“There was a show I went to perform and nobody even knew I was on stage or spared me a second glance. Everybody was just dancing.
“The DJ was just DJing. I felt invisible and I went back to the car with my friend crying.
“I told myself never again. I will never ask for something until I feel like I deserve it.”
