Heartbroken Mother Speaks Out: DJ Mashata’s Tragic Murder Shocks Soshanguve

The heart-wrenching loss of DJ Peter ‘Mashata’ Mabuse has left his mother devastated, describing the pain as if her very own hand had been torn away.

Rebecca Mabuse, grieving the brutal murder of her only child, is pleading for justice in the wake of this senseless tragedy that unfolded in Soshanguve.

During a visit by SABC News and Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to offer their condolences, the 62-year-old mother expressed the profound difficulty of grappling with the absence of her beloved son.

Peter “Mashata” Mabuse, renowned as the stadium announcer for Mamelodi Sundowns and aged 46, fell victim to a barrage of bullets in the early hours of Sunday, April 21st, as he returned from a performance at Epozini Lifestyle in Soshanguve.

The Gauteng police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, confirmed the tragic event, disclosing that murder and attempted murder cases have been opened in response.

“[The] shooting involved two men aged 46 and 45 years during the early hours of today [Sunday]. One victim died in hospital while the other was injured,” she said.

“The two victims were driving near TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) in Soshanguve when shots were fired at their vehicle. The suspects fled and police are following several leads.”
