“I Told Them,” Burna Boy’s seventh studio album, has reached a noteworthy milestone on Spotify, establishing it among his top three albums.
It has become one of the most streamed African productions on the platform, with an astounding 400 million streams. With guest appearances by 21 Savage, Dave, Seyi Vibez, J. Cole, GZA and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, and Byron Messia, the album was released on August 25, 2023. Four singles—”Sittin’ on Top of the World,” “Talibans II,” “Big 7,” and “Cheat on Me”—preceded the album.
However, the true milestone lies in Burna Boy now boasting three albums with over 400 million streams each: “I Told Them,” “African Giant,” and “Twice as Tall.”
This achievement distinguishes him as the first African artist to accomplish such a feat, as no other African act has more than one album with over 400 million streams on Spotify.
Burna Boy’s accomplishment solidifies his status as a trailblazer in the African music industry, underscoring his widespread appeal and global influence.
