I haven’t achieved any major thing in music industry – Wizkid
Nigerian award-winning artist Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, recently expressed that his musical journey is just getting started, despite his numerous accolades, chart-topping successes, and streaming achievements.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Wizkid shared, “The journey is about to begin for Wizkid. I don’t see myself as someone who has achieved something major yet. For me, music is a forever thing.”
Reports from Mp3bullet highlight Wizkid as one of Africa’s most bankable artists and the most decorated artist on the continent. He holds the title of Sub-Saharan Africa’s most streamed artist across all platforms and ranks as the second most followed Nigerian musician on social media, trailing only behind Davido.
Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” album has experienced a remarkable resurgence in the charts, achieving a significant milestone on the NG Apple Albums Chart.
Reclaiming the number 10 spot in the top albums, the album has broken a noteworthy record. This resurgence comes three and a half years after the album’s initial release, making it the oldest to reappear in the top 10 rankings on the NG Apple Albums Chart.
“Made in Lagos” remains one of Afrobeats’ foremost albums, and with each new achievement, it continues to live up to the initial hype. As it breaks records, the album solidifies its status as a timeless and influential work in the genre.
With eager anticipation mounting, Wizkid took to his Instagram stories, simply declaring “album,” igniting excitement among his global fanbase. This highly anticipated release marks his sixth studio album, following the success of “More Love Less Ego,” which was released in 2022.
