“I challenge the OGs to go and make music. Ageism is such an issue in Nigeria” – iLLBliss
Nigerian rapper Tobechukwu Ejiofor, also known as Illbliss, has sparked discussions within the music industry by challenging established veterans to release new music despite their claims of paving the way for younger Nigerian artists.
In an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Illbliss addressed the ongoing controversies surrounding assertions made by established artists regarding their contributions to the industry.
While acknowledging the diverse opinions on the matter, Illbliss stressed that artists are entitled to their own perspectives. He noted that while some may feel that the way was not paved for them, it ultimately comes down to individual viewpoints.
Despite the lack of record deals with older musicians, Illbliss highlighted the significant influence and inspiration that younger artists derive from their predecessors. However, he issued a bold challenge to the industry veterans, urging them to release new music while lamenting the prevalence of ageism in Nigeria.
Expressing his discontent with the prevailing energy from industry veterans, Illbliss underscored the hard work of younger artists and called for a more supportive environment within the industry.
