Timi Dakolo says pains are part of life, and a person must remain joyful in the midst of it.
Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo believes everyone should experience hardship at some point in their lives since it helps to mold who they are.
The musician shared his opinions with famous media personality Chude Jideonwo on the most recent edition of the podcast With Chude, comparing a person’s suffering to fertilizer for a plant.
He said, “Everybody should go through a certain level of pain because it purifies the soul. It’s like fertiliser. If you have not experienced a certain level of pain, there are certain things you can never know.
“You know how the Bible says, ‘And he came to himself, the prodigal son.’ It was not the time he was enjoying the money. It was when it was finished, and he was eating pig food.”
The vocalist emphasized that giving birth causes a significant transformation in a woman, using the agony of childbirth as support for his argument. To emphasize his argument, Dakolo used his song Omo Ayo, which celebrated his resilience in the face of hardship and heartache.
“I was telling my friend the other day that when a woman gives birth, labour pain changes her. After that, just watch the person; it does something to them. Either they swing to the far left or to the right. So you will choose. That’s the meaning of the ‘Omo Ayo.’ See, my heart and all its breakings, life and all its takings, I will still remain Omo Ayo,” he said.
