Ruger denounces loyalty to ‘godfather’ following Departure from D’Prince’s label
Nigerian artist Michael Adebayo Olayinka, known by his stage name Ruger, has boldly declared his independence from a certain ‘godfather’ figure in the music industry.
In a trending video, the ‘Asiwaju‘ crooner announced his departure from loyalty to an unspecified godfather, emphasizing that this year is all about focusing on himself.
Ruger’s declaration came through a freestyle that circulated online shortly after his departure from music executive D’Prince’s label, Jonzing Records.
On February 6, Ruger took to Instagram to announce his exit from Jonzing World, expressing gratitude to the record label and D’Prince while affirming his decision to bet on himself.
In a subsequent release under his newly established label, Blown Boy Entertainment, Ruger solidified his stance by denouncing godfatherism in a freestyle titled ‘Blownboy,’ asserting himself as his own boss.
“I denounce every loyalty to some godfather, this year I’m about me,” Ruger sang.
