Peseiro selects his team for the match between Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau during AFCON 2023
The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has assured fans that they will witness the team’s “first eleven” in their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group fixture against Guinea-Bissau. Despite a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea and a 1-0 win over hosts Ivory Coast, Nigeria is on the brink of qualifying for the Round of 16.
Peseiro, however, emphasized that the team is not taking anything for granted ahead of the Monday game.
He stated to reporters on Sunday, “No two matches are the same. Tomorrow, you’re going to see our first eleven; everybody can play. I’ll choose the players and the best organization that works best for everybody.”
While Peseiro confirmed that midfielder Alhassan Yusuf is not fit for the match, the coach’s commitment to fielding the strongest lineup reflects the team’s determination to maintain a competitive edge in the tournament.
